I have a john deere 265 with a kawasaki fc540v 17 hp engine. As everyone else I know have a week spark. Can anyone tell me what all can cause this. I don't really know what all to look at. I have to have the electrode almost touching the ground on my sparkplug to get any spark at all. Sometime there is no spark.The "new" style FC540V engines didn't use a igniter, but required a different flywheel as well. If a "new style" coil was used WITH the the igniter, it would not spark. If a new style coil was used with an old style flywheel, they'd sometimes spark and actually run with the but no power and poor running-similar to advanced ignition timing.Once compound has made its way around the valve you are ready to check clearance again. If it is good go onto the other valve and repeat the grinding and lapping procedure. 8. Once every thing is correct. Put the head back on.
